“For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.” 1 Corinthians 4:20
In the days of Jesus, the Pharisees were a group of religious leaders and teachers that studied the law and adhered to very strict guidelines learned from the traditions of their fathers. In theory they were the good ones, the popular speakers and teachers who were feared and followed. By God’s grace we get to look back on their faults and learn from their mistakes, but many of His people this very day are making the same mistakes the Pharisees made.
So many of us search the Bible for hidden meaning and find more purpose in seeking alternate words and/or definitions that we completely miss the point of His word. What God wants us to know is clearly communicated in His word, and His word is all you need. You need no other book to study His word.
“For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.” 1 Corinthians 4:20
2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
With His word, you are complete. With His word, you are thoroughly equipped for every good work.
What your friends say, the leaders and elders in the congregation, nor what your family say has no bearing if it is not spoken by the power of the Holy Spirit, and if it isn’t from the Holy one; it is from the evil one and you are being deceived.
Colossians 2:8 is a warning; it tells us to “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” And in 2 Timothy 3:13 we are again advised, “But evil men and imposters will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” and in Romans 12:2 a command to not be conformed by the deceivers, it is written, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”
You need not need seek out commentaries or others thoughts, opinions nor philosophies on who and what and why scripture was written the way it was, you need only to seek Our God; our Father and ask Him all your questions.
Matthew 6:33 tells us, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…”
Seek God and He will answer you, seek God and set your focus on Him… When He responds, you may be pleasantly surprised at how simple His truth is… To understand how He truly sees it. He is not seeking scholars, He is seeking servants; sons and daughters who produce love, joy, peace. Those who will for Him suffer long, who are kind, who are good, who are faithful and gentle and those who exercise self control. Is that you? Pray with me:
Heavenly Father,
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, it is You who anoints my head with oil, and it is You who overflows my cup, and it is Your kingdom I seek. I seek Your kingdom Father, I seek your righteousness, Your peace, and Your joy in the Holy Spirit and I hear Your voice and I obey. Father, I rebuke, I renounce, and I reject the spirit of ignorance and I refuse to be deceived by the evil one. In the name of Jesus I declare that I am Yours and You are mine and that the devil has no dominion over me. I do not hear his voice and I am repelled from anything sent from him. Father, please fill me with Your Spirit of understanding and give me eyes to see You, and ears to hear You, and remove from me the veils of misunderstanding and misinterpretation that have held me back from Your good, Your acceptable, Your perfect will in my life. I love You Elohim with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my mind and all my strength and I love others as I love myself. I hear Your voice and I obey. Lead me and guide me in Your paths of righteousness and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. In the Holy, precious, and perfect name of Jesus I pray; Amen.
Proclaim 1 Kings 8:23 “Lord God of Israel, there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like You, who keeps Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.” I keep Your covenant and I walk before You with all my heart.
Blessings: May our God; our Father fill you with His Spirit of understanding. May the Lord God Almighty remove the veil from your eyes and remove the grip of the enemy. May you read His word and be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
